NEWBUILDCON has seen a steady growth in use since it was first launched back in2007. It has been used for a wide variety of ship types and the feedback from users ofthe contract has been very positive indeed. New standard contracts of this type always take a number of years to “bed in”to the industry, but with an estimated 100+ vessels built on NEWBUILDCON to date, the future for this contract looks very promising.
In 2008, BIMCO presented the new document at a range of seminars, including Dalianand Shanghai. Two members of the original drafting team, Georg Scheel, Managing Director of the Nordisk Defence Club, Oslo, and Chris Kidd, Senior Partner, Ince &Co, London will discuss the legal framework covering the production process underNEWBUILDCON and in particular, the issue of performance and refund guarantees –an area where NEWBUILDCON scores highly.
The scene is set by BIMCO’s Søren Larsen, COO who will provide an overview and introduction of NEWBUILDCON.
